Help us do better

Our website is an ongoing work in progress. If something is not working for you or your assistive technology, please let us know by emailing us at info@bagbalm.com so we can support you as soon as possible.

Our commitment

Vermont’s Original Bag Balm is dedicated to making our site as usable as possible for everyone and understands that accessibility is an ongoing and evolving effort.

Bag Balm is striving to remediate our website to meet and exceed the latest Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) A and AA. We have hired an external accessibility specialist to test for issues, implement best practices, and improve upon features for assistive technologies without the use of AI or overlays.

Since our last update on August 27, 2025, we have resolved 17 issues including the following 5 critical issues:

  • Search button is no longer obscured on smaller screen sizes.

  • Product color selection now has visible focus when using a keyboard.

  • Focus is no longer lost when opening the cart.

  • Product carousel navigation controls now have a larger touch target size.

  • Mobile users now have access to a persistent button to navigate horizontally scrolling carousels.

Known issues

Our current website is partially conformant to WCAG 2.2 level A and AA. Known issues include, but are not limited to the following.

  • Navigation. The global navigation’s submenus cannot be opened with a keyboard. For items within the Shop submenu, we recommend using the links on the Shop page above the filters. For items within the About Us submenu, we recommend using the links in the footer.

  • Writing a review. Review actions are not accessible by keyboard and can cause responsive issues on mobile screens. We reported these issues to Opinew, and they are working on a fix. If you would like to review a product, please send an email to us directly at info@bagbalm.com.

  • Contact page. The delete file attachment button associated with the contact form is not reachable with a keyboard. Until this is fixed, you can remove an attachment by reloading the page. Color and contrast issues are also present with visible focus and error messages. We reported these issues to Gorgias, and are waiting for a response.

  • Shopping cart. The shopping cart may be overly verbose and difficult for screen reader users to navigate due to improper code and illogically ordered headings. Focus order for keyboard users may also be confusing due to a mismatch between the visual order and coded order of interactive elements in the cart. We reported these issues to ReBuy, and are waiting for a response.

  • Find a retailer. Search results may be significantly verbose to screen reader users due to unnecessary aria-labels. We reported this issue to the StoreMapper team, and they are working on a fix.

  • Blog. Category navigation does not support visible focus while using a keyboard.

If you need support or access to any information that may be limited by these issues, please contact us at info@bagbalm.com. We will work with you to fix the issue immediately or provide an alternative.
